Out on the 5th of November ‘Blue Notes of Beauty’ is the debut release from Danish musician and composer Pernille Rie.

Bringing together classic singer-songwriter influences such as Carol King and Joni Mitchell with a twist of jazz, the result is a cinematic collection of original music driven by her distinctive vocal style.

The album has been a long time coming; despite growing up in a musical family playing a whole host of instruments, her choice of career and work life took her on a detour away from professional music for quite some years.

In 2019 Pernille settled on a life-changing decision: she sold her apartment in Copenhagen, moved to Madrid and teamed up with the Spanish musician and producer Rafael Guillermo – part of the popular group ́Pop-tops ́ back in the 70s with hits like the Billboard song “Mamy Blue” – to record the album.

With the Danish songstress on piano and guitar, they assembled a cast of musicians from Spain, France, Cuba, Germany and Argentina to back up her bright and soulful vocals.

The result is classy and melodic, acting as a perfect vehicle to showcase her thoughtful and multi-layered arrangements
