out April 3rd

Led by Swiss drummer & composer Clemens Kuratle, Murmullo present their sophomore album Lies this Spring.

And, despite what the band name might suggest, there is nothing reserved or whispering about this music: prepare yourself for deep grooving sounds and shaking rock beats, with the spirit of the seventies.

“His sensitive, colourful sonic universe is maybe most comparable to the one of Brian Blade” – Jazz’n’More (CH)

““Diverse compositions executed with impressive dynamism, urgency and personality”
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (DE)

Lies was recorded and mastered in the old fashioned analog tradition and brings together five young but seriously in-demand musicians from the Swiss jazz scene who, together, were nominated for Switzerland’s most prestigious jazz award in 2019.

Saxophonist Jonathan Maag and trombonist Florian Weiss sit on top of a rhythm section led by Clemens on drums and completed by bassist Rafael Jerjen and guitarist Franz Hellmüller.

Still in his 20s, Kuratle has already established a presence on the European jazz scene as both a sideman (Julie Campiche, Nicole Johänntgen, Swiss Jazz Orchestra) and as a bandleader for this Murmullo project and the international Quintet Ydivide, featuring Elliot Galvin (UK), Dee Byrne (UK), Chris Guilfoyle (IE) and Lukas Traxel (CH).

Lies showcases Kuratle’s continued development in all areas: a dynamic drummer, a sensitive composer and a bandleader skilled at selecting the right musicians for the music.
